A Website in a Week? And it’s good?
How we build 1-week websites that are fast, look great and unique.
A big part of my work over the past 20 years has involved building websites across a wide range of platforms — from the early days of HTML builders like KompoZer and Dreamweaver to mostly WordPress, and, more occasionally, Wix Studio, Webflow and other adjacent platforms.
My clients have ranged from mom-and-pop businesses that simply needed a solid web presence and strong SEO, to major public entities like the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, where details such as accessibility and adaptive technology integration mattered in a much bigger way.
No matter the size of the project, website development has always been labor-intensive – for both developers and clients. Many clients know they need a website, and want to be found online, but are so involved with running their businesses that they have trouble finding the time and energy to focus on design feedback or collaborating on website content.
For developers, launching even a small website requires careful attention — making sure the code, plugins, themes and content all worked together, that SEO was properly structured, that images and assets were optimized, and later that everything functioned well on mobile devices. A well-built website has a lot of moving parts.
A working knowledge of all of that is still fundamental. But AI and automation have dramatically streamlined the process and removed much of the guesswork, especially when it comes to troubleshooting bugs, auditing builds for SEO, and improving overall site performance.
In the early days of website development, it was a very cool process for those of us who enjoyed getting to play with emerging technology. But as things became more complicated, even as visual builders like Wix or Elementor in WordPress gave you more control, keeping all those moving parts moving became a time suck, which also sucked most of the fun out of the build process.
Now, though, AI does a lot of the heavy lifting on the boring work, leaving developers to focus on the creative side of the build and on dialing in the UI and UX.
Building websites is fun again.
And it is much, much faster.
That speed matters in today’s market. Website development is an increasingly competitive field, and part of that is because AI now allows a lot of people with limited experience to produce at least a basic site. To run a successful website business, you have to deliver quality work quickly.
That speed benefits clients, too. The faster the turnaround, the sooner they have a polished, functional website working for their business.
That is how 1-Week Websites was born.
Using mad web skills (close to four decades combined experience) and some custom automations, we have put together a system that lets us turn around a web build in seven days -- from onboarding the client to delivery of the complete site.
Not only are we fast, we have removed most of the workload from the client. Generally, we don’t need them to share notes or write any copy for us to use. We usually just have them do a quick call or or fill out an online form, and we run with it.
Better still, the platform behind 1-Week Website is scalable. That means we can grow to serve more clients, and we can also scale individual projects to handle larger or more complex builds when needed.
It is fast. It is affordable.
And it is built for businesses and organizations that need a strong web presence without a long wait.
These are ideal website builds for businesses that need a professional site and fast SEO traction; for organizations launching a side project or secondary brand; for small companies and individuals working within a limited budget; and for nonprofits, churches and educational institutions.
